The belvedere of Rome

From the heights of the Pincio, Rome opens out entire: the ochre roofs, the bell-towers, the domes as far as the Janiculum. It is the most famous belvedere in the city, the one the residents rediscovered each evening. Before this line of horizon, the young Lange found a question that would run through all his painting.
